Joe Herring Jr. is a Kerrville native and Tivy High School graduate. He is the owner of Herring Printing Company in Downtown Kerrville. Joe has written a weekly column on Kerrville history in the Kerrville Daily Times since 1994. He has authored three books on Kerrville and Kerr County history and authors a Kerrville history blog. He's been active in community affairs, serving as Kerrville's youngest mayor in 1992; as chairman of the Kerr County Historical Commission; and has advocated for a Kerr County history center for several decades, both in his column and in his public speaking. He is currently a member of the Kerrville city council. He is married to his college sweetheart, Carolyn, and they have two adult children.
